The Copa Del Rey Trophy is awarded to the Spanish team that wins the annual football or soccer cup competition. In 2011 the Real Madrid team won the trophy back after 18 years of hard work. Real Madrid has won the Copa Del Rey Trophy 18 times since the competition was begun in 1902. Madrid beat Barcelona in overtime, giving the club it’s first domestic win since 1993, and it’s first trophy of any kind in 3 years. The celebration was on. Amid the screaming and cheering of the many fans, Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was on the top of the team bus celebrating with the fans at the Plaza de Cibeles, the team’s traditional celebration spot, when he dropped the trophy under the front wheel of the bus and it was run over before the bus could be stopped. The 60,000 fans were stunned. 10 pieces were recovered from under the bus and the team says it will be repaired. The team was given a copy of the trophy to be displayed until the trophy can be repaired. On twitter, Ramos didn’t seem upset by the incident and even laughed, saying not to worry that the trophy would be repaired.

There are so many great club teams out there. However, there are five or six that stand head and shoulders above the rest. From Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two teams that everyone wants to beat. They have won the Spanish league a record number of times between the two of them and they have been involved in many European Cup finals as well.

From England, the two teams that stand out are Manchester United and Liverpool. They have 19 and 18 league titles respectively, along with 3 and 5 European cups. They have dominated English football and are the two teams that everyone loves to support or hate.

From Italy, AC Milan and Juventus are two power house clubs.

UEFA Champions league is without a doubt one of the most watched and even followed league in the World. Arguably, UEFA is one of the most prestigious leagues in the world. Statistics show that over 100 million people do watch the finals of the league.
For some brief history, you should know that UEFA never used to be referred to what it is today. Prior to 1992, UEFA used to be known as the European Champion Clubs’ Cup. During the earlier times, the championship used to be a knockout event where teams would be eliminated without a return match. However, with time, the need for return matches was evident and this transformed the game to what you see today.
With the Championship having a lot of prestige and monetary gains, it is evident that only the best of the best teams make it to the draw. It is only in such a league that the best of the best teams, and more so; players get to meet. If you love Essien, Drogba, Rooney, Christiano and many more, then this Championship will give you a chance to see them in action. Since the league changed its name, no team has been able to retain the cup. With the season almost starting, we can only hope for more and more of the action.

The qualifications process for the FIFA world cup is the process of taking the 200 participants around the world, to the top 32 teams to participate in the Cup. The qualifying matches are held in the six FIFA continental zones (not Antarctica), and are organized by that continents confederations. FIFA determine the number of spots which will be awarded to each continent before the qualification process begins, based on the number of teams from each zone.

The host nation is automatically given a spot in the Cup. The additional teams are determined by the games they play leading up to the World Cup Event itself. FIFA’s current setup has 32 available seats (one for the host nation, and 31 to be won by other countries.) The previous cup’s winner is not automatically entered into the cup, they must qualify like the other competing nations. The FIFA comittee decides on how many spots will be given to each continental zone, at least three years prior to the World Cup event. The qualifications process begins in September two year before the Cup takes place, and goes through November the year prior to the Cup being held.

It is a long process, and many games are played to eliminate the field from 200 to 32 nations.
